CONTROVERSIAL ERIS is in the spotlight this week. Like Pluto, another "dwarf planet," Eris usually far out-performs its classification, making a strong impact on our shared experience. The Pluto-Eris square that dominated 2020 and 2021 – and is still at work in 2022 – is one of the astrological influences we can point to for the ongoing battles between those in power and those who have been ignored or feel unjustly treated.

Giant planet Jupiter is exactly semisquare discontented Eris this Monday, but the energy of this aspect has been with us for a week or two and will continue in effect for at least another ten days. Jupiter is the Great Magnifier, acting to enhance or exaggerate whatever it touches. As Jupiter and Eris interact, we expect (and have seen) grand expressions of dissatisfaction. A huge caravan of semitrucks rolling through city streets, gathering worldwide attention, is a dramatic representation of this semisquare aspect.

Perhaps you, too, have reached a limit in some area of your life and are ready to take a stand. You may be protesting unfair conditions, be willing to speak your truth, or be reclaiming your power in some other way. With Jupiter semisquare Eris, the energy for such demonstrations is strong now. Some may be especially inspired to take action toward the end of the week, due to the individualistic Aquarius Sun being sextile Eris next Saturday.

A MARS-URANUS TRINE that perfects on Tuesday likewise energizes those who are ready to fight for their freedoms and personal rights. But it also assists those who simply are ready to take up a new cause or who need the courage to travel a new road. We may even surprise ourselves with a sudden willingness to take on a venture we previously deemed too risky.

This trine can help us access a deep, intuitive knowing of where we need to go next. It can also provide the spunk we need to get us out the door. The main caution is to be aware of a tendency to act impulsively. Try to avoid burning all bridges right after you cross them.

No matter how this aspect affects us individually, we'll need to remain flexible in our expectations this week; even in harmonious aspect, Uranus tends to act in surprising or sudden ways.

ON FRIDAY, the third (and final) Mercury-Pluto conjunction occurs. This has been one of the "traveling conjunctions" I've been writing about for a few weeks. These two planets were first conjunct on December 30 and then again on January 28, with this second date occurring while Mercury was retrograde.

Now that the Messenger Planet is moving direct, old limiting mindsets are falling away. This Friday's conjunction provides powerful support for finding your voice, speaking your truth, and stating your opinions. As a result, conversations may be especially intense and even confrontational this week. If certain information has been withheld, it now can come forward and be used to reconstruct our goals.

HERE are the most important planetary aspects we'll be working with this week, day by day:

Monday
Jupiter semisquare Eris: This is a longer-term influence that magnifies our discontent with conditions that feel unfair or restrictive.

Tuesday
Mars trine Uranus: Restlessness can inspire us to take new risks, ones that may seem "out of character" or driven by a sudden need for more autonomy and independence. Intuitive insights and impulsive actions take us into new territory. We want what we want, and we want it NOW.

Wednesday & Thursday
No major aspects are exact on these two days.

Friday
Mercury conjunct Pluto: We seek the truth with this aspect, inspired to find what is at the heart of the matter. It may be hard to stay objective. Beware of words that may be used to coerce or manipulate.

Saturday
Sun sextile Eris: We feel inspired to go our own way with this aspect, despite the opinions or lack of approval from others.

Sunday
Sun semisquare Chiron: If insecurities arise today, use them as an opportunity to sit down with the personality part that feels fearful. Once this aspect of self feels your love and understanding, it can grow in confidence and become your ally.

IF YOUR BIRTHDAY IS THIS WEEK: You have a strong drive to accomplish personal goals this year, despite some lingering insecurities. Still, you may surprise yourself with the level of audacity you are able to bring to the table! You are completing a 29-year cycle and beginning a new one, so it is an excellent time to review your ambitions and revise as needed. Old identities may be pruned away this year to allow a new sense of self to be birthed. (Solar Return Sun semisquare Chiron, conjunct Saturn, sextile Eris)
