If we aren’t being denied opportunities based on our gender and our identities, or not having to work twice as hard to adhere to a double standard simply because of who we are, then it doesn’t get our attention—because it’s not happening to us. And this certainly is not an excuse. We’re simply not experiencing the pain.
Employees take the support they receive from co-workers home with them, and in a loving relationship, transfer this support to their partners. This might mean they encourage them to open up about stresses, seek to resolve issues, or make improvements to how they juggle work and family life arrangements.
You might wish you were more passionate about your job. Or that you had the kind of job you could at least imagine being passionate about.
Falling into a rut doesn’t mean we have to stay there. Even when it can seem like an insurmountable challenge to climb back out, finding a way is possible. My life is a testament that it can be done.
