InnerSelf's Daily Inspiration

December 4, 2023

The focus for today is:

I choose to keep my heart open all the time.

Today's inspiration was written by Rabbi Wayne Dosick:

Disaster and upheaval serve in part to purge and purify the old design. But, sometimes, when we experience our own suffering or the anguish of others, our hearts open wide to hold the pain and help as best as we can.

Yet when the present challenge or danger seems to have passed, all too often our hearts close again and return to their “normal” size. In today’s world, when one painful event seems to follow another at warp speed, the message for us is: we need to keep our hearts open all the time.

The swirling turmoil in our world compels us to become the people who will tame and heal the darkness that threatens us. With open hearts we can carve out the pathways that revive and renew us so that the new paradigms can emerge.

Today's inspiration was adapted from the InnerSelf.com article:

This is Marie T. Russell, co-publisher of InnerSelf.com, wishing you a day of keeping your heart open (today and every day).

Comment from Marie:
Unfortunately, it's too easy to close our heart, either in anger, judgment, impatience, stress, or whatever other emotion gets us upset. Yet, making a commitment, each day, to keep our heart open will go a long way to make it happen. And as with so many things, it gets easier the more we do it.

Our focus for today: I choose to keep my heart open all the time.
