ECLIPSE SEASON: With the Aries Solar Eclipse just nine days away, we are fully in eclipse season now. There is always an other-worldly feeling to these weeks before, between, and after a pair of eclipses, as if we are somehow suspended in time and space. And yet, eclipse season is also a time of accelerated events that can be quite life-changing.

The Moon is in the waning half of its cycle in these days leading up to the first eclipse. As Luna gradually withdraws her light from the sky, she calls us to go inward and reflect. This is the receptive, yin half of the lunar month as we gather insights and information based on what has occurred since the New Moon on March 21. This is our opportunity for assessment, discernment, and adjustment, so that we may begin the new lunar cycle on April 19 with clear vision and intention.

SOLAR ASPECTS: The Aries Sun strongly activates two other planets this week, being conjunct confident Jupiter on Tuesday and aligning with discontented Eris on Friday. This is very fiery energy, stimulating assertiveness and independent action.

As with all astrological events, we can choose either the higher expression of these energies or explore the shadow. This Sun-Jupiter-Eris collaboration may inspire some to step into a leadership role, perhaps in an effort to champion those who have been ignored or disenfranchised. On the other hand, some may choose to be aggressive or angry, allowing resentment and spitefulness to dictate their actions.

With judicious Jupiter involved in this three-way interaction, beliefs in "right and wrong" are especially strong this week. Judgmental and self-righteous attitudes may be exaggerated, in ourselves or in others. Jupiter's rulership of legal matters indicates that much of the drama is likely to play itself out in courts of law.

DAILY ASPECTS: Here are this week's most important planetary aspects, with my brief interpretations of each.

Monday
Neptune opposite Ceres: There may some confusion about how to be compassionate and in service to others without going into self-sacrifice or martyrdom. We are learning that attempting to rescue another may not actually be the most loving or productive response to a problem.
Venus enters Gemini: Venus will travel through Gemini from April 11 to May 7 of this year. As ruler of relationships, Venus craves intelligent conversation while she is in the sign of The Twins. Venus in Gemini is friendly and interested in others, eager to discuss a wide variety of topics and to keep her mind active.

Tuesday
Venus trine Pluto: Personal conversations may be very honest and revelatory today. This can increase intimacy and a sense of connection with a loved one.
Sun conjunct Jupiter: This is a very restless influence, inspiring us to take action based on something we strongly believe in.

Wednesday & Thursday
No major aspects are exact on these two days.

Friday
Venus square Saturn: Relationships and financial matters go through a reality check, and we may feel the need to prune out what is no longer working for us. This aspect can help us make serious decisions, but it can also tend toward a more pessimistic outlook. This is why it is important to be sure choices are based on a longer-term assessment, not just on the mood of a single day.
Sun conjunct Eris: Independent, assertive, instinct-driven action is the theme for today. Eris likes to stir up controversy, which can be uncomfortable. But as we become aware of the desire to "fight against," we can also realize where we are perhaps holding fear that is asking to be released.

Saturday & Sunday
No major aspects are exact on these two days.

IF YOUR BIRTHDAY IS THIS WEEK: You may feel especially restless this coming year, Aries. The urge to explore new opportunities is strong, and in many ways, an optimistic outlook serves you well as you set out on new adventures. You may also feel a passionate urge to fight for a cause that you believe in. However, you may encounter some residual fears or a lack of self-confidence along the way; this awareness is calling for you to prioritize self-care and to give your inner work equal priority. (Solar Return Sun conjunct Jupiter, conjunct Chiron, conjunct Eris)
