Welcome... Our InnerSelf welcomes your Inner Self.

With the challenges we and our world are facing, while we need to do all that is in our power to create change, we also must focus on Trusting the Tide of Events.  While this may seem like a dichotomy, it really isn't. We must trust that things will work out even when we're up to our neck in alligators, so to speak, and do everything we can to get out of the swamp.

In our world of media, marketing, and even downright "making stuff up", it's important to make sure we are Seeing Beyond Appearances. Sarah Varcas, in her overview of the month of April, emphasizes the importance of Keeping It Real and Anchoring Deep Truth Into Our Every Day Consciousness.  And of course, to do any of the above, a fundamental requirement is Being Free from the Fear-based Ego

Scroll down for the featured articles this week, and also numerous additional articles, some mentioned below and others to be found on the website in the three major sections: Living in Harmony, Personal Development, and Social/Political.

We also welcome (and invite) any feedback... To send us your comments, hover over the "This and That" item in every page's top menu, and click on the "Contact Us" button. Please let us know if something isn't working, a link is broken, or is missing, etc. And of course, donations are always welcomed and appreciated (and useful).

The Great Quest for Truth: Seeing Beyond Appearances

The Great Quest for Truth: Seeing Beyond AppearancesWritten by Olivier Clerc.

What keeps us prisoners of our illusions? Our assumptions—the things we believe are true that really are not. For example, on my way to work during rush hour, a guy in a Lexus speeds by, cuts in front of me, then weaves in and out of traffic at a hundred miles an hour. My first reaction is...

Love, Gratitude, or Trust: Which Is More Important?

Trust Comes FirstWritten by Barry Vissell.

Trust. Not trust. Trust. Not trust. The human free will tries to insert its dominion. Trust in a higher power is the most difficult thing to sustain, and the most important thing to sustain. I can’t see angels, but I trust they are there helping me every step of my journey.

Humbled and Exalted: Trusting the Tide of Events

Humbled and Exalted: Trusting the Tide of EventsWritten by Alan Cohen.

When you feel disappointed or hurt, it’s tempting to get on a soapbox of ego. Yet if we can trust that somehow the tide of events is moving in our favor, we are often led to higher ground. Albert Schweitzer said, “The only ones among you who will be really happy are thosewho will have sought and found how to serve.”

The Hardest Part Is Always the Parting

The Hardest Part Is Always the PartingWritten by Robert Kopecky.

At some point in our lives, we all may have to inhabit that peculiar bubble of time where we’re called upon to witness the passage of a life. It’s possibly the most difficult, but most essential, thing we have to do—showing up for an event we dread and knowing how to conduct ourselves through this unmistakably sacred time.

And Finally... Being Free from the Fear-based Ego

And Finally... Being Free from the Fear-based EgoWritten by Debra Landwehr Engle.

I know what it’s like to live my life on that runaway train. One day I’m nervous about a deadline. Then I meet the deadline, everyone’s happy with my work, and I’m immediately anxious about money . . . or a conversation I need to have . . . or a hundred other things that are waiting in the wings to keep me in a constant state of anxiety.

Keeping It Real and Anchoring Deep Truth Into Our Every Day Consciousness

April-2015-keeping-it-realWritten by Sarah Varcas.

This month’s astrology has the feel of Fresher’s Week at university, when arriving students are oriented to their new life. Choices abound and the air is heavy with potential and possibility.
