Marie T. Russell's Daily Inspiration

The focus for today is:  I am a "can-do", "will-try" kind of person.

When people talk about tough love, they usually are thinking of parent to child. However, tough love can be applied to ourselves as well.

But just as from a parent to a child, tough love for yourself is still love. It is not judgmental, blaming, or a put-down. It is about wanting the best for yourself. When we apply tough love to ourselves, we do what is best for us even when it is not what provides us instant gratification or pleasure.

We are acting out of tough love when we honor our commitment to exercise even if we don't feel like it; when we eat a tiny portion of ice cream instead of a huge bowl or even the whole container; and when we do what is best for us instead of what is easiest. We love ourselves and remind ourselves that we are a "can-do" and "will-try" kind of person.

Today's Focus was inspired by the InnerSelf.com article:
