Someone sent me a photo of a raccoon that named it as the mascot of the pandemic. Why? Because it wears a mask and it washes its hands. [Fact check: Actually the raccoon doesn't wash his hands, he washes his/her food... but let's not quibble about it.]

But that got me thinking that if there's a mascot, there must be a theme song. While a search on YouTube brought up a few "theme songs" for the Coronavirus, I can't say I found any of the ones I saw inspiring or uplifting.

However, I came across a song recently and as I listened to the lyrics, I thought it would be a perfect song as a "theme song" for these times of social isolation. (Lyrics below the video.)

If You Ever Need a Friend -- Original Song by Abbie Folken and Hannah Miller
{vembed Y=Px5_UtVYyOk}

Those days when nothing's working
All your plans are falling through
When you're tired of hurting
And you've done all that you can do
I wanna tell you

If you ever need a friend
You can call me / You can call me
If you're unravelling
You can call me / You can call me

Those nights that last forever
And you're stuck in your own skin
When your heart is an anchor
And you're thinkin bout giving in
I hope you never forget

If you ever need a friend
You can call me / You can call me
If you're unravelling
You can call me / You can call me

I want you to know
That you never have to be alone
No....

If you ever need a friend...
If you're unravelling...
If you can't get up again...
If you ever need a friend
You can call me / You can call me
