Barry Vissell: I'm writing because there is an even bigger epidemic than Coronavirus. It is an epidemic of fear. Not only is it bigger, but it is more dangerous to our health.
Yes, it is possible to get very sick, or even die, from COVID-19, but that is unusual. However, fear is destructive to the soul as well as the body. Plus, fear shuts down the immune system, making us more susceptible to all illnesses.
I'm calling upon all of us to be leaders and healers at this time. We're being asked to physically isolate from each other. Therefore, we need to counter this by non-physically connecting even more. This includes reaching out to those we know by phone, email, texting and social media. And even more important, spiritually through prayer, through sending out light to the world. Please know this is not a luxury, but a necessity.
Fear will have us isolate. Love is calling us to connect even more.
