InnerSelf Newsletter: October 28th, 2018

Welcome... Our InnerSelf welcomes your inner self.

Perhaps our key message this week is recapped in the title of this article: "Embracing The World: Being In The World Without Rejecting It".

So many things in our world challenge us and we might, at first, choose to reject them or react with anger. Things like cancer, illness of any kind, fear, trauma, stress, death of a loved one, and a gazillion other challenges of earthly life. However, we are best served when we look for the message in these scenarios.

We can start by asking ourselves: "Why Did This (Symptom) Happen To Me?", and we also can choose to pay attention when "Our Body Communicates With Us Using Three Danger Signals".

There are also stories and patterns stored in old memories as we discover in "The Emotional Legacy of Injury and Trauma". We may have a tendency, due to our upbringing to look for someone to rescue us from our situation. However, it is important to empower ourselves by taking responsibility for our own lives as shared in "God Is Not Coming: It Is Human Beings Who Decide The Fate Of Humanity".

Our weekly theme is also explored in the current planetary energies, as revealed in this quote from the Astrological Journal:

"...the wound being revealed has to do with our ability to trust in the goodness of the Universe, and in Divine Compassion. When difficulties arise, when our minds cannot comprehend a tragedy, it can be challenging to accept that Love is actually the predominant force in the Universe. And yet, to respond with hate, fear, or apathy only increases that energy on the planet. This feeds the causative factors behind the tragedy, invoking the opposite of what we wish to have occur.

"So, Jupiter and Chiron are on a mission this week, to increase our capacity to heal our personal wounds of disillusionment and despair. By addressing this issue on an individual level, by holding the light in times of darkness, we are also healing humanity."

And we can comfort ourselves in knowing that "The Journey Always Continues: From Fear and Suicide to Loving with an Open Heart". Everything that happens to us, or around us, contains a message, a lesson, a gift. When we look for the blessing rather than judge, blame, and resist, we will find that our life progresses much more smoothly. Then, we can find ourselves in heaven on earth, rather than the hell that perhaps we think we are inhabiting.

And since this is the week of Halloween, we bring you some articles on the history of this holiday, as well as some reflections on why we are so attracted to all of its aspects, from dressing-up in costumes, to trick and trickster behavior, to frightening ourselves with haunted houses. etc. And of course, we have numerous additional articles on a variety of topics as well.

Scroll down for the links to the various new articles on InnerSelf.

Wishing you enjoyable insightful reading, and of course a wonder-full, joy-full, and loving week.

The Journey Always Continues: From Fear and Suicide to Loving with an Open Heart

Written by Joseph Gallenberger, Ph.D.

The Journey Always Continues: From Fear and Suicide to Loving with an Open Heart

One of the tools that I have used since its discovery in the first year after Pete’s death, is my image of my heart as a vast ocean, unable to be broken. Since its discovery, my heart is like water. If you come into my life, you’re enveloped completely, like a hand submerged in water. If you leave, the water goes back to complete, perhaps losing a drop. This idea...

Our Body Communicates With Us Using Three Danger Signals

The Emotional Legacy of Injury and Trauma

Written by Cathy Thompson and Tara Thompson Lewis

The Emotional Legacy of Injury and Trauma

Injury and any trauma that occur more or less simultaneously are connected by the illogical lower brain. For example, a baby doesn’t know, or reason, that the pain of a bitten lip isn’t caused by the adult who is holding her bottle, but is coincidental to it. Her young, magical, mythic mind, the dreaming part of the mind, makes relationships and patterns where none may actually exist...

Why Did This Symptom Happen To Me?

God Is Not Coming: It Is Human Beings Who Decide The Fate Of Humanity

God Is Not Coming: It Is Human Beings Who Decide The Fate Of Humanity

Heaven and hell both exist on this planet today. This day. There is not some day in the future where our free agency to make any choices that we want will be locked down. Where there will be a judgment made, and some eternal status assigned to us. We will not be “assigned” a heaven or hell experience. It is us, the human beings, who decide the fate of humanity.

Embracing The World: Being In The World Without Rejecting It

Written by Jason Gregory

Embracing The World: Being In The World Without Rejecting It

The heart of Eastern wisdom teaches you to be naturally in the world without rejecting it. Many spiritual paths condemn and judge the world, as if they were enabling one to move beyond desires. But many fail to realize that they are desiring not to desire (a point that the Buddha understood).
