InnerSelf's Daily Inspiration

February 20, 2024

The focus for today is:

The most valuable thing I can do is to take time
to be alone with myself outside of social influences.

Today's inspiration was written by Ahad Cobb:

We live in two worlds: the inner world and the outer world. These worlds overlap and interpenetrate each other. These two worlds project on and reflect each other. Yet each world has its own logic, its own dynamics, and its own laws, so to speak.

We see with two eyes: the inner eye and the outer eye. In order to live fully we need to develop, as Pir Vilayat said, stereoscopic vision. The inner life is always present, always alive, coexistent with, distinct from, yet interpenetrating, the outer life. Yet for the most part, attention is on the outer life in the world.

In every age and in every condition, the single most valuable thing one can do is to take time to be alone with oneself outside of social influences, whether through meditation, retreat, solitude, or wandering, to let oneself know the silence of the inner life.

This is Marie T. Russell, co-publisher of InnerSelf.com, wishing you a day of taking time to know the silence of your inner life (today and every day)

Comment from Marie:
Silence is very important to me. It fills me with peace, lets my intuition speak, and quiets the restless mind and ego. Take some time where you have no external sounds to distract you... no music, no TV, no podcasts... just silence. It will help calm you, balance your mind, and soothe your soul.

Our focus for today: The most valuable thing I can do is to take time to be alone with myself outside of social influences.
