InnerSelf's Daily Inspiration

December 13, 2023

The focus for today is:

My beliefs, energies, and thoughts have a ripple effect.

Today's inspiration was written by Jacqueline Heller, MD:

Carl Jung described the “collective unconscious” of human beings; the idea is that we are all unconsciously yet truly connected. We do not necessarily see the impact on each other—how our beliefs, energies, and thoughts affect each other. But they do have a ripple effect.

This phenomenon is consistent with quantum entanglements, which explain how the tiniest particles of our being can affect others. If you are around a high-energy individual, her dynamic nature may be contagious and affect you and others in her proximity. We tend to call these people influencers or charismatic.

Responses to social trauma vary considerably among people who have suffered personal trauma. My response is no doubt different from another individual’s. Nonetheless, it’s wise to consider the linkage between social and emotional trauma, because sometimes this linkage can be illuminating.

Today's inspiration was adapted from the article:
Can Emotions Be Contagious and Go Viral?
     Written by Jacqueline Heller, MD.

This is Marie T. Russell, co-publisher of, wishing you a day of being aware that energy has a ripple effect.

Comment from Marie:
We've probably all experienced it. We get up feeling good, and then someone during our morning affects us with their mood and all of a sudden we are feeling moody, or angry, or whatever. However, once we are aware of the affect of the energy of others on our energy, we can make a choice of which energy we want to carry with us... and thus ripple out a different vibe.

Our focus for today: My beliefs, energies, and thoughts have a ripple effect.
