Marie T. Russell's Daily Inspiration

The focus for today is:  I appreciate and respect other ways of life.

As humans, we may have a tendency to discount what we are not familiar with. We don't "believe" or trust certain things because we don't know much about them, or haven't experienced them. This can have to do with many areas: healing methods, different races, ethnic foods, unusual experiences, and certainly, religions other than the one we were raised with.

I feel that a lot of the problems we experience on earth would be greatly diminished if we learned about other people's paths, religions, beliefs, diet, traditions, etc. Just because we've always done or seen something a certain way doesn't mean it is either the only way for us to see it or do it, and certainly not the only way for anyone else to see or do it.

I have often used the expression "I'll try anything once, twice if I like it" as I feel it allows me to try new experiences, viewpoints, and beliefs. If we are open to seeing things differently, even if just enough to get a glimpse into it, we can then appreciate and respect other people's perspective.

Today's Focus was inspired by the InnerSelf.com article:
