InnerSelf.com welcomes your inner Self.
Many of us think that there's a right way and a wrong way to do something. Yet, since each person and each moment is unique, the "rightness" of an action or behavior has to be flexible and change according to the person and the situation. Yet, we were taught in school and other situations that there was only one "right" way and that anyone who did not follow this "right" way was wrong... a heathen, an idiot, an outcast, or whatever.
Yet, when we respect each person's individuality, we see that each person will have different needs and different ways of expressing those needs. The lesson for all of us is to incorporate flexibility in our attitudes. If we are rigid in our attitudes and behaviors, any change we put into place won't be able to "stick" as we remain stuck in our old patterns -- thought and behavior patterns. Are you ready to embrace change?
So our question needs to be as to where in our life we need to be more flexible and willing to participate in the changes that necessarily are part of life. We may judge them as good or bad, but nevertheless, they are taking place. Our only choice is how we deal with them, how we react. Do we react from the rigid mindset of "I'm right and you're wrong" or do we open our mind and our heart to find the good in each situation and help the good expand and thrive. It's our choice as to whether we help heal the problem or add oil to the fire.
