InnerSelf's Inspiration for this week

April 21 - 27, 2025

This is Marie T. Russell, publisher of InnerSelf.com, wishing you a week of clarity, love, appreciation, patience, and fulfillment—today and every day.

I'll be “on the road” this week, so I’ve prepared one inspiration to guide us through the days ahead. We may be tempted this week to fall into fear, anger, or judgment—but remember: as you sow, so shall you reap. Plant your “seeds” mindfully, and your harvest will reflect your deepest heart’s desires.

Let’s keep our focus where it matters—on love, on peace, on patience, and on compassion. These are the energies that nurture us, our relationships, and the world.

The focus for the week is:

I use my thoughts and imagination
to envision and create positive outcomes.

This week’s inspiration is based on the article “Feel the Fear — and Trust Anyway” by yours truly.

FEAR is often described as an acronym: False Expectations Appearing Real. It reminds us that what we fear is not real in the present moment. It’s a possibility, yes—but one that exists only in the future, if at all. And yes, some of the things we fear might happen—but more often than not, they’re not as bad as our imagination made them out to be.

We’ve all been trained—by media, movies, and culture—to envision disaster and worst-case scenarios. We have powerful imaginations, and they’ve been steered toward fear for far too long. Here’s the crux: fear keeps our focus on the very thing we wish to avoid. And just like setting a goal—where we visualize success and feed it with attention—fear does the same thing. It feeds the unwanted outcome with our thoughts, our energy, and our power.

So let’s turn that incredible imaginative power in a new direction. Let’s use our thoughts and intentions to consciously envision positive outcomes, for ourselves and for others. Let’s remember that what we focus on expands. And when we each hold a vision of harmony, healing, and joy, we strengthen the collective field of those energies in the world around us.
