we are stewards for democracy

At a talk given at a Unity Church in Berkeley, Marianne Williamson clearly explained why as "spiritual" people we need to be involved in the transformation going on now in the political landscape in order to be good stewards of democracy. She begins with some historical info: William Penn and his Quaker tenets of "everyone is created equal", slavery, abolition, suffragettes, Martin Luther King and civil rights, and moves to current day OWS movement.

The connections and comparisons with the past are enlightening and motivating. This is our time and this is our legacy... Will we have a democracy to leave to our children or will we let the US regress back to a feudal system (overlords who have all the power and resources; peons who barely eke out a living in order to support their lords and masters). The comparison is striking and shocking.
