Connecting With Your Inner Guide

When I was younger, I used to spend my days roaming in the woods alone in front of my parents’ house. I liked nature more than the bustle of people and family life, and found hundreds of fun activities to do in the peace and quiet of the outdoor world.

I would wander the deserted trails observing pretty flowers or animals, trying to learn everything I could about the beauty around me. It was at a young age that I started hearing a whisper inside me that was at first so distant I thought I was imagining things.

Asking Questions In My Mind

During these solitary and content walks, I would often reflect on my life and events that happened to me at school or at home. Sometimes I would ask a question in my mind and out of nowhere one day, I started hearing answers. When the answers started coming to me, I thought that I was going crazy so I kept the answers to myself.

Questions that I might ask were, “How should I tell so-and-so that she’s not a good friend?” or “How can I get that teacher to like me more?” These were basic questions but the answers that I would receive were far beyond basic answers; oftentimes they were so complex that I would forget them or not be able to follow them in my head.

Thus my first contact with my inner guide was in nature. Over time, the answers became clearer and more complex which forced me to write them down to understand them better.

Navigating Through Difficulties

Equipped with this powerful inner compass, I was able to navigate through some very difficult obstacles. Being connected to this inner guide I was often able to know what was ahead. I resolved complicated life situations by sitting down alone in nature and taking the time to dialogue with this inner guide who seemed way more advanced and mature than me.

I didn’t share this incredible discovery with my friends or family because I knew it was not a common experience. I assumed that I was living something extraordinary that must be kept hidden from the outside world.

As I became more and more confident in this inner teacher and the messages being delivered, I naturally grew into a more confident girl. I knew if people were lying, if people were concealing facts or if a boyfriend was cheating on me. I surprised a boyfriend by showing up one day at his door and telling him who he was sleeping with and how often he had slept with that woman.

Not only did we break up that day but I left him standing with his mouth wide open, not sure what had just hit him. Hopefully my clear vision set him on the path of respect and honesty but that is another story altogether.

When we are guided with our truth and clarity then the world is much more fun and magical. With our inner compass we can navigate around rocks and storms and deadly adventures. We can also help others out of heavy troubles by lending them our inner guide sometimes, always remembering that everyone has their own learning pace and programs. Above all, listening to our inner guide will bring us greater joy and freedom which is what everyone wants in the end.

Practice Connecting with Your Inner Guide

Here is something you can practice to connect with your inner guide. Find a quiet spot in nature and sit comfortably alone. Close your eyes and focus on your breathing. Allow yourself to fully feel your body and be present in the Now.

Clear your mind and listen to the nature sounds around you. Make a declaration to the Universe that you want to begin communicating with your inner guide and that you are ready to receive clear answers. Ask that whatever obstacles are present in you be removed so that good communication can take place.

When you feel ready, ask a question out loud and wait to see if you can hear or feel an answer.

The trick is not to think. The answers must come spontaneously and they must come freely so don’t push and don’t get frustrated if you can’t get clear answers at first. Like all things, practice makes perfect. The more you allow your inner guide room to speak, the more it will manifest but you must be patient and loving.
