LUNAR ECLIPSE: At precisely 12 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time on March 25, the Full Moon perfects and a penumbral Lunar Eclipse is near its peak. Visually, this type of eclipse is somewhat anticlimactic; instead of the Moon turning reddish, as it does during a total Lunar Eclipse, the disk of the Moon will be only slightly darker than normal, for about four hours total. However, all eclipses are powerful, no matter their designation!

Typically, eclipses occur in pairs twice a year, when a New or Full Moon is within a few degrees of the nodal axis. The nodal axis can be thought of as an agent of karmic rebalancing, with the South Node representing the past we are healing and releasing, and the North Node indicating our path of evolutionary advancement.

Since this first eclipse of 2024 is a South Node eclipse (the Moon is closest to the South Node), it may bring up issues from the past — either from this lifetime or other incarnations — for us to review. This eclipse is designed to help us release old emotions, behaviors, and attachments that have been holding us back, to clear the way for a new beginning. With the eclipse in cooperative Libra, it is specifically focused on relationship themes, on forgiving ourselves and others, and on the cleansing of old, unhealthy patterns of relating.

Unexpected events can occur that alter our reality around the time of a Lunar Eclipse, and some may experience major transitions. Emotions are heightened, and we tend to react instinctively instead of logically. As the sign of The Scales, Libra is also associated with justice, the courts, and lawsuits. We can expect that these themes will be in the news this week and be the source of some heated debate.

The aspects to the Moon from other planets at the time of the lunation also provide insights into the effects of this eclipse. Radical Uranus is in a challenging sesquiquadrate aspect to the Moon, triggering impulsive reactions and erratic emotions. This aspect also intensifies an urgent need to be free of restrictive or unfair conditions. However, with Pluto trine the Moon, psychic perceptions and intuitions are enhanced, and we may feel especially in tune with our sense of mission or higher purpose.

THIS WEEK'S ASPECTS: Here are my brief interpretations of this week's most important planetary aspects:

Monday
Full Moon: The Full Moon occurs at 12 a.m. PDT, when the Moon is at 5°07´ Libra and opposes the Sun at the same degree of Aries. This lunation is accompanied by a penumbral Lunar Eclipse, our first eclipse of 2024. It marks the start of a very eventful two-week period in which life seems to move more quickly and can seem quite surreal.
Venus semisquare Pluto: Some may feel possessive or jealous with this aspect, as it can dredge up trust issues in relationships.
Sun semisquare Uranus: People may act more impulsively or erratically under this influence. There is a strong need to be free of situations that feel confining or stagnant.

Tuesday
Mercury conjunct Eris: We can tend to be more forthright and direct in our communications today. This alignment strengthens confidence and courage as we promote or defend our convictions.

Wednesday
Mars semisquare Chiron: Despite a brave front, people may be nursing hurt feelings today, or could strike out in anger to hide their vulnerability.

Thursday
Venus sextile Uranus: Creative solutions are possible now, especially in the handling of relationship issues or financial matters.

Friday, Saturday, Sunday
No major aspects are exact on these three days.

IF YOUR BIRTHDAY IS THIS WEEK (March 25 - 31):

You may have a sense of your life being drawn forward this year, due to a stronger alignment with your higher destiny and path of evolutionary growth. It is time to embrace your unique gifts, to transmute old behavior patterns that no longer serve you, and to have the courage to take important strides forward in some area of your life. This progress may be in your career, but it could also manifest in a very different arena of your life experience, based on the house placement of the Sun in your natal chart. Your natural and positive Arian qualities of independence, self-awareness, self-confidence, and intuitive action are enhanced now. (Solar Return Sun conjunct North Node)

CLASSES AND WEBINARS by Pam Younghans:

"ECLIPSE SEASON" PODCAST: I was excited to sit down with my friend Teresa Wornstaff last week for another chat on her "Soul Channel" podcast! For this episode, we talked about the significance of eclipses and what to expect with the Lunar Eclipse on March 25 and Solar Eclipse on April 8. Here's the link to the episode: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YcxiSMcsCyA

Please note: In my enthusiasm, I misspoke about the degrees of planets at the time of the Total Solar Eclipse on April 8. It is true that the Sun, Moon, Chiron, Mercury, and Eris are all conjunct for the eclipse. However, while the Sun, Moon, and Chiron are at 19 degrees Aries, Mercury and Eris are at 24 degrees of the sign. My apologies for any confusion. I hope you enjoy the podcast!
