UPCOMING: Much has transpired over the past six weeks, both in the "real world" and energetically, as we've navigated the first eclipses of 2025. The doors have now closed on eclipse season, and we have just a brief pause before we take on the energies of the next major planetary event.
That event will be a two-for-one: the Mars-Pluto opposition that perfects on April 26, immediately followed by the New Moon in Taurus on April 27. At the time of the lunation, the Sun and Moon will be strongly square both Mars and Pluto, thus acting as a potent trigger for the already powerful Mars-Pluto effect.
This coming week, we could start to get some hints of what to expect from the impending Mars-Pluto-New Moon event. Mars will complete its transit of sensitive Cancer and enter passionate Leo this Thursday, April 17. With Pluto currently at only three degrees of Aquarius, Mars will be well within orb (range) of the opposition to Pluto as soon as it enters zero degrees of Leo.
The upcoming Mars-Pluto aspect is the last of three exact oppositions between the two planets within the past six months. This next pass represents a culmination point and the final step in a process that began with the first exact opposition on November 3. Around that date and again on January 2, the second time the aspect was exact, we experienced some dramatic events and powerful emotional reactions. We anticipate that the end of April will be similarly intense.
More on the Mars-Pluto effect in next week's Journal, but I wanted to give you a heads-up since warrior Mars will be entering the sign of the Lion this week.
ASPECTS THIS WEEK: Here are my brief interpretations of this week's most important planetary aspects, day by day:
Monday
Sun conjunct Eris: Individuals are self-motivated and may be more assertive and reactive than usual, especially if they are feeling ignored or disrespected.
Tuesday
Mercury enters Aries: The Messenger Planet will journey through the sign of the Ram from April 15 to May 10. During these weeks, the mind is quick and forward-thinking. There is a strong link between ideas and action, so we may tend to be impatient and make decisions quickly. We also speak more bluntly or assertively, and could be less aware of the impact of our words on others.
Wednesday
Mercury sextile Sedna, Mercury conjunct Neptune: As Mercury interacts with these two spiritual planets, we may be inspired with new ideas about how to express our higher calling. Decisions are guided by intuition and a desire to be of service to the greater good.Thursday
Jupiter sesquiquadrate Pluto: We may go overboard, taking on too many activities or ideas, or overestimating our ability to control a situation. The desire to be important or to exert power could be strong.
Mars enters Leo: The Red Planet will transit the sign of the Lion from April 17 to June 17. During this two-month period, self-confidence is heightened and passions drive our actions. Ambition is strong, as is the desire to be the star of the show. Some may use theatrics in order to make an impact. This transit supports leaders who are creative and heart-centered, but could also increase the "roaring" from those who seek to rule by intimidation.
Friday
No major aspects are exact today.
Saturday
Mars sextile Sedna, Mars trine Neptune: Actions are inspired by compassion and a higher spiritual calling. The ego is in harmony with the higher self. We are guided by intuition and find empowerment through our ability to transcend the dramas of the world.
Sun enters Taurus: The Sun will be in Taurus from April 19 to May 20 this year. This transit supports our connection to the Earth and to all of nature. We are encouraged to experience the simpler pleasures of life, to enjoy our physical senses, and to appreciate beauty in all its forms. We may also be less open to that which is unfamiliar or surprising, due to a preference for comfort, an unhealthy sense of "loyalty," or a stubborn attachment to the status quo.
Sunday
Venus sextile Uranus: We are open to new experiences in relationships and in the creative arts. This aspect helps us allow others to be their authentic selves, without feeling threatened by their need for independence.
Mercury sextile Pluto: Conversations may be especially revealing and intimate today. There is a desire to know what lies beneath the surface.
Sun square Mars: We may be strong-willed, over-excitable, and quickly irritated with this aspect. We could also struggle with anger management. It will be important to find positive outlets for releasing the tension.

If Your Birthday Is This Week (April 14 to 20):
You have experienced a major shift in your self-concept and have acquired a much deeper understanding of yourself and your motivations over the past couple of years. This year invites you to embrace all aspects of your personality with love and understanding, especially those that you tend to judge or condemn. Along the way, you may experience a release of anger as you get in touch with parts of yourself that have been feeling ignored or discounted. It will be important not to "stuff" these feelings but to find a positive physical outlet for moving this energy when it arises. (Solar Return Sun square Mars, square Pluto, conjunct Chiron, conjunct Eris)
