THE FULL MOON that will grace our skies tonight actually perfects after midnight, at 1:30 a.m. PDT on Monday. This is when the Moon reaches 25°53? Sagittarius, and is exactly opposite the Sun at the same degree of Gemini.

As I teased in last week's Journal, this Full Moon is exceptional because it aligns with the Galactic Center (GC), which is currently at about 27° Sagittarius. The GC is a gigantic black hole around which our galaxy orbits. It is said to "contain the mass of four million suns."

It boggles the mind a bit to try to imagine it all--the Earth orbiting our Sun, our solar system part of the Milky Way galaxy, and all of that planetary and star stuff rotating around the GC. The complexity of the universe is pretty amazing!

I SHARE with you this excerpt from an article about the GC by astrologer Melanie Reinhart. It tells us a bit about the potentials of tonight's Full Moon:

"When the last five degrees of Sagittarius are stimulated by transiting planets, a process of awakening is initiated. The arrow of the centaur points ‘beyond what we know,’ and at the same time refers us symbolically to ‘what we have always known’ in our inner depths. These intimations have a strong ‘felt sense’ but are not easily verbalised or quantified.

"A time of accelerated spiritual development occurs, with its attendant life challenges which may include rapid change, separations, crisis, illness and stress as outmoded ideas are released. This ‘empty space’ is where we are receptive to Grace, and like the black hole that resides at the core of the galaxy, it generates the substance which will birth the new, individually and collectively."

ASTROLOGER Philip Sedgwick has written that the GC "emits a wide array of powerful radiation, most notably infrared (IFR). This infrared energy pressures the subconscious mind, providing the release of learned behavior and memories, both negative and positive, all in the interest of moving forward."

It makes sense that in order to allow new awareness to unfold, we need to create space in our energy fields through purging what no longer serves us. The infrared radiation from the GC helps with that process, while the Saturn-Pluto-South Node alignment helps reveal to us the patterns and attitudes that need to be released.

Mr. Sedgwick also includes this warning about the physical effects of working with the GC:

"Often, when an emotional download of healing data completes, the body sometimes follows with its own symptoms of letting go. Ranging from shaking, chills and even the elimination system moving into high gear, verification for the inner evolution appears."

A POWERFUL LUNATION, to say the least! And, we might call it “the icing on the cake,” given that we’ve been working with the spiritually expansive Jupiter-Neptune square for the past couple of weeks. This means we are already quite aware of the "empty space" that Ms. Reinhart describes--as well as the "attendant life challenges" that accompany spiritual evolution.

Tonight's Full Moon is also significant in that it begins the waning phase of the Moon, a phase that sets the stage for the Total Solar Eclipse on July 2. When the Moon is waning, we are instructed to reflect on where we have been, to sort through the extraneous and discard what no longer serves us. We are clearing the slates so that we can make a new start--and a Total Solar Eclipse/New Moon represents a major opportunity to begin anew. (More on the eclipses in upcoming Journals, and in my webinar on June 27.)

THE SUN enters Cancer this week, marking the solstice at 8:54 a.m. PDT on Friday, June 21. The chart drawn for the moment of the solstice is said to represent overall themes we'll be working with for the next three months, until the September equinox.

It's no surprise that the Saturn-Pluto-South Node alignment in Capricorn figures prominently in that seasonal birth chart, showing that we will continue to confront old patterns and structures that have lost integrity and purpose in our lives. But, new to the equation--and a key component of the solstice chart--is a Mercury-Mars-North Node alignment in Cancer, directly opposite the Capricorn grouping. And, all of the planets just mentioned are square Eris in Aries.

When Mercury and Mars align, we tend to take action quickly, based on the impulse of the moment. The square to Eris shows that discontent drives these actions, and the opposition to Saturn-Pluto indicates outside resistance. On the larger stage, since Cancer represents the public, many will start to voice their thoughts (Mercury) more assertively (Mars)--but hopefully from a more heart-centered perspective (Cancer). It also will become increasingly clear where those in power (Saturn-Pluto in Capricorn) may be out of touch with the needs of the people they are meant to serve and protect.

IF YOUR BIRTHDAY IS THIS WEEK: This year, your challenge is to build a stronger sense of your own self-worth, and to recognize when you base too much of your self-esteem on the opinions offered by others. As you increase your knowing of your true value, you are actually able to love others more fully, moving beyond judgments and attachments. This increases your well-being on all levels. It also helps you move beyond worries that you might be rejected if you express or take care of your own needs.(Solar Return Sun quincunx Ceres)

WEBINAR NOTES: The webinar is just 10 days from today! (See the "Mark Your Calendar" announcement below.) If you will be attending live, you may want to have your natal chart handy, since I'll be explaining how to find the location of the Saturn-Pluto alignment in your chart.

Also, please note that once you register for the webinar, you will be receiving follow-up emails from @eventbrite.com. If you can't find your confirmation in your inbox, please check your spam folder. Thanks!

MARK YOUR CALENDAR! My next webinar, will be on Thursday, June 27, 2019.. PLEASE SEE my website for more information about the upcoming webinar, "Coming Into Focus," which will cover the astrological energies from July 2019 through January 2020--including The Big Event, the Saturn-Pluto alignment!
