THE ROAD to next Saturday's Full Moon has a few twists and turns, but it also offers us the chance to enjoy beautiful vistas from time to time.

Monday begins with some minor frustrations (Mercury-Mars semisquare) and a tendency to jump to conclusions (Sun-Jupiter quincunx). However, by relaxing our need to justify our thoughts and beliefs, we can take advantage of the empowering Sun-Pluto trine that builds throughout the day, supporting our efforts to make concrete progress toward our goals.

TUESDAY is a very social day, with Venus in proactive Aries sextile Mars in social Gemini. This influence enhances self-confidence and can give us the courage to express our needs in a relationship. Still, it's best to wait until the effects of the late-morning (11:51 a.m. PDT) Moon-Mars square have subsided, to avoid the pitfalls of over-analyzing what you want to say and do.

Wednesday is definitely a day to "stop and smell the roses"; Venus enters nature-loving Taurus early in the day, augmenting our desire to experience beauty, while Mercury (also in Taurus) is sextile Neptune, sensitizing our awareness of the subtle realms. Even Mars gets into a cozy mood in the evening hours, stepping into nurturing Cancer at 8:09 p.m. PDT.

SOME OF THOSE TWISTS in the road appear on Thursday and Friday, interfering with our ability to clearly explain our ideas. We have some insecure moments in the first half of Thursday, with a Mercury-Chiron semisquare in effect. But by later in the day, the road straightens out, and a Mercury-Saturn trine encourages us to continue with our plans.

It's a similar story on Friday, in that there are early challenges (Mercury quincunx Jupiter and Venus semisquare Neptune) that complicate our thinking process and our relationships -- but by the end of the day, a Mercury-Pluto trine motivates us to rededicate ourselves to the goals we've set.

SATURDAY is the most significant day of the week. Venus aligns with Uranus, proclaiming a new start in concerns of the heart. This alignment can correspond with a new relationship appearing "out of the blue," or a sudden upsurge in the energy within a partnership. It can also bring about unexpected changes in an existing alliance, if one or both parties are feeling that their needs are not being met, or that they have not been living authentically within the relationship.

Emotions are further heightened on Saturday due to the Full Moon event, which perfects at 2:11 p.m. PDT, when the Moon is at 27°38? Scorpio. Hidden feelings come to the surface to be recognized, and responses tend to be instinctive rather than deliberate.

WITH MERCURY in opposition to the Scorpio Moon, psychic impressions are increased around the time of the lunation -- but latent fears and suspicions can easily become tangled in the mix, leading us to perceive betrayal where there may be none. It will be important to maintain a practical perspective in all matters, and to make decisions or communicate calmly (Mercury and the Sun in Taurus).

With the Venus-Uranus conjunction also part of the Full Moon chart, this "take it slow" directive can hard to follow! The Hare wants to go full speed ahead, and yet we may well benefit from the lesson of the Tortoise: Step at a time, step at a time. If we are measured in our steps, we can more clearly perceive the truth of the situation.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL! Whether you're a parent to human children, a caregiver for your animal companions, or a nurturing presence in the world in some other way, I honor you and celebrate you today!

IF YOUR BIRTHDAY IS THIS WEEK: Your need to communicate your truth is heightened this year, and you may very well be drawn to writing or teaching, or perhaps learning something new. As you set your intentions for the year, remember to include activities that feel empowering and inspirational. Taurus tends to be drawn to what is comfortable and familiar, but this year, especially, you will benefit from diving more deeply into experiences and setting goals that you feel passionate about. Choosing to take these risks transforms your self-concept, and will ultimately enable you to better fulfill your mission in this lifetime. (Solar Return Sun conjunct Mercury, trine Pluto)
