A MUCH QUIETER astrological week is ahead of us, with just a few notable aspects. With all that has transpired in the week just ending, it is cosmic grace not to have to contend with any new major planetary influences for the next several days. Instead, we mostly have the time to absorb and adjust, and for some to grieve, in response to recent events.

When not working with significant outer planet activity, we tend to be more aware of the often subtler activity of the Moon. It is good to note here that the Moon moves very quickly through the zodiac, so the impact of its aspects to other planets is relatively short-lived, usually influencing only part of a day.

THAT BEING SAID, we may especially feel the Moon-Pluto alignment on Monday (9:57 a.m. PST). This joining in ambitious Capricorn increases our drive to get things done but also can make us less sensitive to the needs of those around us, as we are overly focused on achieving the goal we've set.

An unsettling Moon-Uranus square occurs on Tuesday at 7:13 a.m. PST. We may feel a bit more impact with this one, since both planets are in the critical 29th degree of their respective signs, and the Capricorn Moon is aligned with the karmic South Node. With this set-up, we revisit the effects of last week's Uranus-nodal square, so events will connect back to last Tuesday -- perhaps final election results in the U.S. will be revealed? This is the first aspect Uranus has made since re-entering Aries last week, so the planet will be releasing some pent-up energy in perhaps surprising ways.

THURSDAY AND FRIDAY are the most active days of the week, starting with Thursday's Mars-Uranus sextile that can open doors to new opportunities and increase our restlessness. The First Quarter phase of the Moon begins at 6:54 a.m. PST, representing a time for decisions to be made as we manage projects or issues that began with last Wednesday's New Moon.

Also on Thursday, Mars moves into Pisces at 2:20 p.m., altering how we take action or assert ourselves. Mars is not necessarily comfortable in flowing Pisces, since the idea of surrender to a higher will goes against the ego's need to be the captain of the ship. Our challenge while Mars is in Pisces (until December 31) is likely to be finding that center point between the two ends of the seesaw -- neither capitulating or playing victim, nor trying to force our agenda, but gracefully staying in balance and able to transcend any dramas that unfold.

THE RETROGRADE BATON passes from Venus to Mercury on Friday. Venus stations direct at 2:50 a.m., after having been retrograde since October 5, and Mercury begins its 20-day retrograde phase at 5:33 p.m. This creates a bit of complication for those who have been postponing relationship or financial commitments until Venus is moving forward again, since Mercury's retrograde period is said to be a time when important decisions are not advised.

If we look at the bigger picture, however, we might be able to see some cosmic wisdom at work. Perhaps over the past six weeks, it's been important that we review our values, what we truly treasure most in life -- both in our relationships and in our material possessions. And now, it appears to be equally vital that for the next three weeks, we consider (and reconsider) how we want to integrate those values into our plans going forward, before we settle on a "final" strategy.

NEXT WEEKEND, lunar aspects again are the main players on stage -- and they have very few lines to speak. The only aspect on Saturday is a Moon-Neptune alignment in Pisces at 12:08 a.m. PST -- which, given the hour that it occurs, may serve primarily to bring mystical dreams into our sleep, or perhaps quickly-dissolving visions into our minds if we are awake. This would certainly be a good time to have a dream journal handy, or to somehow capture a meditative experience so that its benefits continue.

On Sunday at 12:18 p.m. PST, the Aries Moon trines Jupiter, invigorating our need to be moving and active. This is a very energizing influence that can be beneficial -- but it will also be very important to be responsible and thoughtful as we move through the day, especially toward evening; the Moon-Saturn square that perfects at 8:30 p.m. PST will quickly apply the brake pedal on our activities, causing problems if we're still pushing the speed limit.

IF YOUR BIRTHDAY IS THIS WEEK: Recently, Jupiter's transit to your Sun provided the inspiration and energy for you to find your true passion, something that brings depth and meaning to your life. In the coming year, you will have opportunities to expand on that sense of mission, while also learning to trust guidance from the subtle realms that will fill in the missing pieces of the puzzle. Once you have settled on your goals and are sure they meet your standards of high integrity, your innate abilities to focus and commit can harness the force of your intentions, manifesting dynamic results.
