InnerSelf Newsletter: March 12th, 2017

Welcome... Our InnerSelf welcomes your inner self.

It is time for us to recognize the truth: We are all connected. Indigenous people knew that before "white man" ever came to the Americas. (The Great Law of Peace and the Council of the Clan Mothers)

This week we look at many of the things that connect us. (Are We Really All That Different From Each Other?) By putting certain attitudes and behaviors in practice, we act on that connectedness. (Perceiving the Truth through Empathy, Not Prejudice)

As we nurture our sense of empathy and use our intuition, we continue the inner search for peace and happiness. (Using Your Intuition Is Essential for Happiness) We then connect with the wisdom of those around us. (Important Message from Keeper of Sacred White Buffalo Calf Pipe)  And we also get in touch with our own innate wisdom. (The Importance of Your Daydreams and Mind Wanderings)

Scroll down below for more info about this week's Editor's Choice articles and also links to over 45 additional articles focusing on a wide variety of topics, ranging from health, education, science and technology, relationships, and much more. And of course, Pam Younghan's weekly astrological column which reflects on the themes of the coming week.

Wishing you enjoyable insightful reading, and of course a wonder-full, joy-full, and loving week.

The Great Law of Peace and the Council of the Clan Mothers

Written by Robert Hieronimus and Laura E. Cortner.

The Great Law of Peace and the Council of the Clan Mothers

The Iroquois tell of a Peacemaker prophet who walked the lands many years ago trying to convince the warring nations to give up their blood feud ways. The first Clan Mother convinced her people to listen to the prophetic words, and they established the Great Law of Peace.

Perceiving the Truth through Empathy, Not Prejudice

Perceiving the Truth through Empathy, Not Prejudice

As a result of years spent trying to teach people to rewrite their prejudicial stories about themselves and others, I am keenly aware of how prejudice can spread. It can develop into embedded beliefs and cause inordinate amounts of stress.

Are We Really All That Different From Each Other?

Written by Sam Bennett.

Are We Really All That Different From Each Other?

I work hard to refrain from judging other people, even when they are making it very, very hard to not judge them. I have come to realize that judgment is not really my job.

The Importance of Your Daydreams and Mind Wanderings

Written by Carol Kershaw, EdD and Bill Wade, PhD.

The Importance of Your Daydreams and Mind Wanderings

Our attention is affected by the ultradian rhythm that alters our attention span every 90 to 120 minutes throughout the day. Mind Wandering naturally occurs at the end of this cycle, as well as after any intense cognitive task. Mind Wandering is our mind’s way of forcing us to give it a rest.

Using Your Intuition Is Essential for Happiness

Written by Jodi Hershey.

Why Using Our Intuition Is Essential

We are in uncharted territory. There is nothing from past time periods relevant to what is going on today. We are evolving as a species and it behooves us to open our minds, look at life from a different perspective, and do this by operating from our intuition.
