Welcome... Our InnerSelf welcomes your inner self.
This week we take a look at our stories. This includes the stories of our society, the stories we tell ourselves about our past, our ego's stories, the rationales that interpret our current experience, and the ones about the future...
We introduce the energy of letting go of our stories (the poor me, the victim, the misunderstood, the smarter than, or dumber than, etc.) with a quote by Sarah Varcas from "Living Life On Purpose with the Power of the Eclipse Season":
"Offering the opportunity to break free from old ties and reinvent ourselves... nothing is set in stone as long as we seek always to release that which binds us in the very moment it does so. Not a week, a month, or years down the line, but immediately – freeing past pain, old beliefs and habits, behaviours that sabotage us and conditions that keep us stuck. Sometimes we have to dig deep, working long and hard to let go, but throughout the coming eclipse season we have a precious opportunity to release, moment by moment, whatever holds us back."
First we need to identify our stories so that we can transform them and release them. We get assistance in that domain from Jayne Morris in "What's Your Story? How To Learn From Your Past". Another common story is the one of blame and guilt. Carla van Raay invites us to go deeper in "Let’s Talk about Guilt".
Our ongoing stories often have become automatic reactions to anticipated behaviors. "Freeing Yourself from Reactive Thoughts and Ego Concepts" brings us insights and common sense solutions. And of course, we need to change our attitude towards these myths we tell ourselves... When we find ourselves repeating the same old same old story (he said, she said, he didn't say, she didn't say, etc.) it's time to tell ourselves so what? Read "Cultivating New Behaviors: You've Got A Problem? So What!" for great examples of when this tool can free you from the miasma of your "poor me" stories.
Yet the biggest underlying story our society tells us is the one about "not enough". That we aren't good enough, that others aren't good enough, and that there isn't enough to go 'round. This "Not Enough" story creates separation, adversity, and lack of cooperation and compassion. Laurie McCammon asks, "Can We Stop Living the Never Enough! Story?" Yes, we surely can!
It's time to create a new story. One in which we are enough, there is enough, and we say "enough" to all the madness and separation that surrounds us. In this week's astrological journal, Pam Younghans informs us that, currently, "the planets compel us to release ancient karmic patterns that have limited our perceptions and interfered with our spiritual growth." Sounds like we're getting outside assistance in letting go of the old patterns and stories, and making a new start (or a continuation on a different path).
And of course we have numerous additional articles (scroll below for the list) dealing with health, climate, children, marijuana, justice, and much much more. We also have informational articles about Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton (and their proposed policies) as this is all part of our world's current "story"... and for us to change the story we need to be familiar with the facts and the myths so we know what role is ours to play.

Stories are like boxes we build around ourselves to give structure, identity, security and familiarity. We are attached to them even when they are traumatic and painful, because they feel so much part of us... However, stories also limit us...

Guilt is a difficult burden to carry around with you. And guilt perpetuates what you are guilty about; how does it do that? Guilt is a very negative, destructive energy. It is different from remorse, the feeling we get when we know we have done something wrong and we’re dreadfully sorry. In the case of remorse...

How can you free yourself from being lost in your thoughts? To understand the answer we must examine the chain reaction of thought. We are currently living in what I call the Never Enough Story, a cultural myth characterized by ideas of separation, unworthiness, and scarcity. It is a culture that indoctrinates each and every one of us to the idea that we are separate, on our own, and there is never enough to go around.
