Welcome... Our InnerSelf welcomes your Inner Self.
In a few days, we start a new year. For some, January 1st is a meaningless date while for others it signifies a fresh slate and a chance to make important changes in their life. While the first day of January may be an arbitrary starting point for life-transforming changes, it does carry some helpful momentum since so many people are focused on making changes at the same time.
Janette Hillis-Jaffe, the author of the book "Everyday Healing: Stand Up, Take Charge, and Get Your Health Back...One Day at a Time" reminds us that our life choices are of utmost importance to our health because Your Body Needs You to Create a Life You Want to Show Up For. Alan Cohen starts this year by saying this:
"We succeed or fail based on what we hold dear. Choose meaningless priorities, and you become the heir to pain. Live from what you value, and your life becomes a celebration of purpose."
So once again, we are reminded that our choices do matter. While it may sometimes seem that we are pawns in the game of life, we do well to remember that we are also the game master or movie director. We choose, we envision, we project, and then we emit thoughts and vibrations that draw and/or repel people and events to us.
There are, of course, risks involved in making choices, especially when those decisions are seen as having "unsure" future results. But as Benjamin Franklin said, “Nothing ventured, nothing gained!!!”. Regular InnerSelf contributor, Barbara Berger, recommends that you Follow Your Passion and Accept the Consequences.
As you go about setting goals and intentions for the New Year, you may find yourself reflecting on your life purpose and wonder if you have "found" it. If that thought worries you, then read Your Life Purpose: It's Not What You Think It Is and relax because you'll find that it's not all that complicated.
