December 13th, 2015

Welcome... Our InnerSelf welcomes your Inner Self.

There are times when we might want to scream "Stop the world, I want to get off!" And perhaps the holiday season is a time when that feeling can be overwhelming. So many things to do, places to go, people to see...

This week we bring you articles to alleviate the stress of the season. And while some of the articles are directed to this particular time of year, the advice and recommendations apply to any stressful time of life.

Jude Bijou counsels How to Thrive Rather than Just Survive the Holiday Season while other articles focus on eating and weight-related challenges during the festivities. (Is Your Holiday Overeating Linked to Nostalgia? and Will You Gain Weight This Christmas?)

Perhaps the most important thing for us to do in any stressful situation is to Keep the Love Vibration Strong and Believe You Can Create a Joyful Solution. And for those who reside in the cold northern climate, Nora Caron shares her methods of Staying Joyful during the Cold Seasons.

Scroll down for links to numerous additional articles this week, ranging on topics from aging, generosity, binge watching, climate, politics, and much more.

Written by SARK and Dr. John Waddell.

Believe You Can Create a Joyful SolutionMost people spontaneously look for solutions that meet everyone’s needs. We want to please the people we love and want to please ourselves. It’s when we get stuck that we start to look for a compromise or think someone has to sacrifice.

Keeping the Love Vibration Strong

Written by Sarah Love McCoy.

Keeping the Love Vibration StrongNo matter what we believe in, I think we can agree that stuff is up in our world and it's unsettling. It's disturbing actually and it can make us feel scared. So how DO I keep my Love Vibration strong? For me, it's all about the little things...

Is Your Holiday Overeating Linked to Nostalgia?

Written by Lisa Lewtan.

Is Your Holiday Overeating Linked to Nostalgia? The holidays bring with them an abundance of festivities centered around eating and drinking. And, not to play Scrooge, but much of our favorite holiday fare sits atop the list of those opiate-like "trigger foods." These foods fall in the "naughty" category because they set off chemicals in the brain that make us want to gorge ourselves...

How to Thrive Rather than Just Survive the Holiday Season

Written by Jude Bijou, M.A., M.F.T.

How to Thrive Rather than Just Survive the Holiday SeasonIt's obvious that the holiday season is upon us. The idea is to thrive and enjoy during this time rather than just survive. Give yourself two great gifts for the next weeks - a lack of stress and actually celebrating the true spirit of this time of year – joy, love, and peace.
