Welcome... Our InnerSelf welcomes your Inner Self.
This week starts off with a powerful lunar eclipse (A Cosmic Humdinger Eclipse: Ready For Deep And Abiding Change?) which highlights the power struggles that can readily occur in the course of everyday life. Now of course, we usually think of power struggles as occurring with other people, but some of the power struggles actually take place within us.
All of our "editor's choice" articles shed light on conflict within our own being... between our ego and ourselves, between our past and our present, between our joy and our lack thereof. Whether it's about regret, guilt, perfectionism, it's really about whether we allow the ego (and its fears) to run us ragged, or whether we permit Higher Self to guide us in to a path of joy, inner peace, and fulfillment. Perhaps you've told yourself that these things don't happen to you... but Alan Cohen reminds us, in How Many Miracles Do You Get?, that where the Universe is concerned there are no limits to joy, blessings, and love.
One of our internal power struggles is highlighted in this article: How To Free Yourself from Regretting the Choices You’ve Made. Another in Poggio Bustone: Knowing We are Forgiven and then Barbara Berger asks: Why Not Give Yourself A Break About Trying To Be Perfect?
Perhaps one way out of the internal power struggle dilemma is by connecting to the innate joy and authenticity that resides within each of us. Read more about this in Intuitively and Creatively Finding the Link to Our Authentic Wildness.
And of course, there are also no power struggles when we are connecting from the heart and with Higher Self. We get to choose which path to take. There is no pressure to choose one way or the other (except from our "power struggle partner", our ego). Perhaps we can befriend the ego and learn to work with it, not against it, and thus pave the way for a more harmonious future for ourselves and those around us.

Do you regret choices you’ve made, opportunities you think you’ve lost, time you see as wasted? If you’re vigorously shaking your head up and down, please stop and listen a moment. You’re succumbing to self-condemnation. When we do, we cultivate a downward-spiraling sense of self-worth...

“No matter by which culture a woman is influenced she understands the words wild and woman, intuitively.” [Clarissa Pinkola Estés, Women Who Run with the Wolves.] Something about the way those two words — wild and woman — were placed alongside each other set up a commotion inside me, a response to a longing I couldn’t name.

A coaching client reported that years ago when she became pregnant, her doctors told her that the baby would not survive. She and her husband prayed fervently for the child’s well-being, and the baby was born healthy and went on to live a happy life. Since that time she had a few miscarriages, and now the couple very much wants another child. “Do you think we each get a certain allotment of miracles, and when we use it up, we get no more?” she asked.

In my daily work as a therapist/coach I've discovered there is one thing that we all have in common. We are all, everyone including me, so amazingly unkind and hard on ourselves. The truth is, I have never met anyone who is not super critical of themselves and who doesn't have unrealistic expectations when it comes to being a so-called "perfect" human being.

I closed my eyes, preparing to list off my offenses. Within minutes, I felt complete forgiveness for all my actions! My first thought was, “Wait. This was too easy! I haven’t worked and sweated hard enough to earn complete forgiveness. I haven’t even gone through the whole list.”
