THE EFFECTS of tonight's Lunar Eclipse/Full Moon have been building for several days, manifesting as heightened emotions, nervous energy, and an ever-deepening awareness of the profound shift that is underway. All Full Moons increase the magnetic pull on our emotional and physical bodies, and with this one in an air sign, there is the added impact on our mental bodies. The height of the eclipse will occur on Monday, November 30, at 1:29 a.m. PST. At that time, the Moon will be at 08°38? Gemini, with the Sun at the same degree of Sagittarius.

This will be a penumbral eclipse, so there will be only a light shadow crossing the disk of the Full Moon. But its vibrational impact is not likely to be so subtle, especially given the times in which we are living.

A LUNAR ECLIPSE represents a culmination or a crisis that brings to light something has been unconscious or hidden. It can be a turning point when our attention becomes sharply focused on a specific area of our lives. Like a tide that suddenly rises as we're walking along a beach, it can compel us to alter our course.

This eclipse has special significance because it aligns with the fixed star Aldebaran, one of the four royal stars that are called "the Guardians of Heaven." When activated, Aldebaran is said to increase strength of will and determination. However, it is important to be highly ethical when working with this star, as its legend indicates a sudden fall if ambition lures us to take a shortcut through quick sand.

Aldebaran is also associated with the Archangel Michael, the angel of protection, mercy, and justice. An article about the seven archangels on the beliefnet website says:

"Archangel Michael assists situations where you are afraid, confused or concerned for your safety. He helps to release fear and doubt, and supports us in making life changes and is often said to work closely with those who perform healing work or provide spiritual teaching."

No doubt, we can greatly benefit from Archangel Michael’s divine intervention at this juncture!

THROUGHOUT the time of this eclipse window, which is open for a few days before and a few days after the event, our capacity to receive higher-level information and insights is enhanced. Gemini is the sign of communication and information exchange, encouraging us to reach not only outward to learn from and teach other people, but also upward to seek new levels of enlightenment.

Assisting in this process of consciousness expansion, tonight's eclipse also brings forward the energies of a Seyfert galaxy and maser, through which we can receive "intense flashes of insight." Once communicated, these insights can become catalysts for major transformation. (Source: "An Introduction to Karmic Galactic Astrology" by Mary Elizabeth Jochmans)

AS PLANETARY RULER of Gemini, Mercury is the ruler of this Gemini Lunar Eclipse, and thus plays a vital role in our understanding of how the eclipse energies will manifest. At the time of the event, Mercury is in a harmonious sextile aspect with a stellium (close grouping) of planets in Capricorn: Pallas Athene, Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto.

Since this foursome in Capricorn has been behind a great deal of the changing landscape and transformational experiences of 2020, this sextile between them and Mercury at the time of the eclipse feels very positive. A sextile represents an opportunity and the potential for new awareness. According to astrologer Robert Hand, the aspect also "serves as a buffer against excessively rapid change and instability ... [helping us] withstand stress and disruption without overreacting and losing perspective."

This is certainly another component of this eclipse we can be grateful for! Especially knowing that Mercury is in the final degrees of Scorpio, and is now wrapping up the investigative work it has been facilitating since it re-entered the eighth sign on November 10.

IT SEEMS REMISS not to include mention of what lies beyond this week – most notably, the Total Solar Eclipse on December 14 and the Jupiter-Saturn Grand Conjunction on December 21. These are major events that are already impacting our timeline, and will have ripple effects far into our future.

I will, of course, write in more depth about both of these in the Journals for those weeks, but if you want more complete information now, please see the "Paradigm Shift" paragraph below, after the short-term aspects list.

HERE are my brief interpretations of the (mostly) short-term energies playing out this week:

Monday
Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse 1:29 a.m. PST, Mercury sextile Pallas Athene, Mercury sextile Saturn: See previous paragraphs! This, of course, is not a short-term influence, as eclipses have effect for at least six months.

Tuesday
Mercury enters Sagittarius: Our mental focus shifts from exploring the shadow (Scorpio) to seeking life's greater meaning and expanding our faith. We are more open to inspiration, and to new possibilities. But, we must also monitor where we might be judgmental or self-righteous.

Wednesday
Saturn conjunct Pallas Athene: Heightened powers of concentration, with a strong focus on issues of social justice. The power of the feminine.
Sun semisquare Jupiter: A clash of belief systems can derail us. This represents a challenge to our decision to stay positive under all circumstances.

Thursday
Mercury sesquiquadrate Mars: Argumentativeness, with a hard "I'm right, you're wrong" edge.

Friday
Mercury square Ceres, Mercury trine Chiron: A softening of self-righteousness, as we become aware of how it not only wounds others in our human family, but also undermines our own self-esteem.

Saturday
Sun semisquare Saturn: A reality check, as we come to terms with the limitations to our freedom that are inherent to the current situation.
Venus trine Neptune, Venus quincunx Mars: A desire to be heart-centered, compassionate, and "at one" with others spiritually, but also dealing with the ego's fear of a loss of individuality. An attitude adjustment is needed.

Sunday
Mercury quincunx Uranus, Mercury semisquare Pluto: Mental stress and nervous tension, as we aspire to awaken, but are also resistant to the changes in perspective that are needed to allow that awakening to occur.

IF YOUR BIRTHDAY IS THIS WEEK: Your independent spirit is strong this year, inspiring you to take new risks. However, you will be dealing with longer-term limitations that can cause some frustration and a loss of faith. At deeper levels, you are letting go of an old identity and old goals based on a specific world view. You are gradually learning how to take a more fluid and trusting approach to your life. (Solar Return Sun trine Mars, semisquare Jupiter, semisquare Saturn, square Neptune)
