Mascot for the Pandemic and Theme Song for Social Distancing and Isolation

Someone sent me a photo of a raccoon that named it as the mascot of the pandemic. Why? Because it wears a mask and it washes its hands. [Fact check: Actually the raccoon doesn't wash his hands, he washes his/her food... but let's not quibble about it.]

But that got me thinking that if there's a mascot, there must be a theme song. While a search on YouTube brought up a few "theme songs" for the Coronavirus, I can't say I found any of the ones I saw inspiring or uplifting.

However, I came across a song recently and as I listened to the lyrics, I thought it would be a perfect song as a "theme song" for these times of social isolation. (Lyrics below the video.)

If You Ever Need a Friend -- Original Song by Abbie Folken and Hannah Miller

Those days when nothing's working
All your plans are falling through
When you're tired of hurting
And you've done all that you can do
I wanna tell you

If you ever need a friend
You can call me / You can call me
If you're unravelling
You can call me / You can call me

Those nights that last forever
And you're stuck in your own skin
When your heart is an anchor
And you're thinkin bout giving in
I hope you never forget

If you ever need a friend
You can call me / You can call me
If you're unravelling
You can call me / You can call me

I want you to know
That you never have to be alone
No....

What Works For Me: Asking Why

Marie T. Russell, InnerSelf
For me, learning often comes from understanding "why". Why things are the way they are, why things happen, why people are the way they are, why I act the way I do, why other people act the way they do. Once I understand the "why" of a situation, I can then understand how I need to respond both now and in the future. Continue
