1. In a medium saucepan, bring water and tamari to a boil. Stir in
oats, reduce heat and simmer for 5-6 minutes, stirring often. Remove from
heat and let cool. (I transfer oats to a large bowl and put under a fan.)
2. Meanwhile, put nuts and seeds into a mini-Oscar or blender to grind into a
meal. Put into small bowl. Then, grind onion and carrot coarsely in
mini-Oscar or regular food processor. Pour vegetable-nut mixture into
oats, oil your hands, and mix well.
3. Pour garlic powder on top (until it looks like snow-capped mountain peaks)
and continue mixing. Some salt is optional.
4. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
5. Lightly oil cookie sheets and hands. Form mixture into balls a little
smaller than tennis balls and flatten into 1/2 inch thick patties using
hands or a burger press. Bake on center rack for 35 minutes on one side,
turn and continue baking for 25 minutes on the other side. Cool.
