Where to go? What to do? So many times we feel that to find interesting things to do, we have to travel... sometimes to another country, or at least another part of the country. For someone living in another state or country, traveling to Florida is a source of excitement and pleasure - yet when we live here, we may get blasé about our Florida home and its beaches. South Florida has more than beaches to offer (though, yes we do have wonderful beaches).

For those of us who reside year round in South Florida, we may need to take a fresh look at our environment and see it with the “eyes of a tourist”. I lived many years in Florida and had not been to the Coral Castle. A tourist attraction you say? Perhaps, but still a wondrous demonstration of the power and determination of man, just as the pyramids are. We would travel thousands of miles to see such a feat, yet one resides in our “back yard”.

Many adventures await us right here in South Florida, whether inside galleries, museums, theaters, etc. or in the multitude of outside attractions like parks, beaches, and nature centers. Nature in its many forms offers quiet walks or dazzling color and action. Butterfly World is a marvelous place to walk through — wandering amidst the multicolored butterflies is like being in another world. South Florida also offers monkey jungles, and parrot jungles, and even orchid jungles...

When we need to take “time out” whether by taking a vacation, a “day off”, or even just grab a couple of hours for ourselves, we can go to many places that offer serenity and quiet, or if we prefer, entertainment. Whatever soothes our body, mind, and spirit, there we need to be. Some days it may be theater that will provide a balm for our stressful life, other times it might be a stroll through a park “refilling” our energy reserves with the beauty and bounty of nature.

Whatever you need, South Florida can offer it (unless you’re looking for mountains and snow). Discover a Natural South Florida... and enjoy...
