* THIS ISSUE'S ARTICLES *

Afraid of Fear...
by Julia Cameron.

If you'll pardon the levity, most of us are afraid of fear. We think it's a bad thing. Because so many of our experiences with fear have been negative, we fail to see fear as positive or useful. It is both. Let me repeat: Fear is positive and useful.

All In Divine Order
by Dr. John F. Demartini.

Even the most terrible events always contain hidden blessings. The masters know this great truth and remain undisturbed by events, while those of lesser wisdom swing from elation to depression as they move through positive and negative experiences on their way to understanding.

Cleaning Out Clutter
by Astrid Fitzgerald.

Some of us find it difficult to part with objects and mementos of the past, and many of us are pack rats to one degree or another. This may seem like an innocent habit, but the clutter in our minds and hearts is not so innocent, since it is the cause for much unhappiness.

Forgiveness
by Roberta Maisel.

Forgiveness is radical. Both forgiving and asking for forgiveness go against deeply ingrained psychological and political truths. We fight against it. We reject its premises. We think we want to be -- or at least, want to appear to be -- blameless at all times. By forgiving another we are willingly giving up claims to moral superiority.

DEAR CHILD

Dear Child,

Show appreciation for those around you. Do not take them for granted. Let them know that you care. Let them know that they are important to you.

It is so easy to get caught up in one's "to do" list that the really important things that matter are pushed to the side.

Make time for that which truly matters.

All is well, Child of God.

INSPIRATIONAL MESSAGE

Friends Are Good For Your Health!

Study after study has found that social ties reduce our risk of disease by lowering blood pressure, heart rate, and cholesterol. There's no doubt, says Dr. Klein (Laura Cousin Klein, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor of Biobehavioral Health at Penn State University and one of the authors of a UCLA study on Women and Stress)  that friends are helping us live longer. In one study, for example, researchers found that people who had no friends increased their risk of death over a 6-month period. In another study, those who had the most friends over a 9-year period cut their risk of death by more than 60%.

Friends are also helping us live better. The famed Nurses' Health Study from Harvard Medical School found that the more friends women had, the less likely they were to develop physical impairments as they aged, and the more likely they were to be leading a joyful life. In fact, the results were so significant, the researchers concluded, that not having close friends or confidants was as detrimental to your health as smoking or carrying extra weight!
