* THIS ISSUE'S ARTICLES *
Attaining Immortality & Compassion
by Stuart Alve Olson.
We
play our loud music, engage in play designed through technology simply to
distract us from participating in life. Sexual images are used to make us
desirous of commercial products and to keep us from harnessing that energy
for spiritual use. Is music bad? No. Is play bad? No. Is sex bad? No.
Assertion, Anger or Aggression?
by Karen Bentley.
It's
not possible to make the choice to be a loving being until you first
recognize your own loveless mistakes. The ability to see your own anger is
critically important. Anger takes many forms: irritation, lack of patience,
refusal to communicate, holding a grudge, talking behind someone's back,
insolence, making fun of someone, manipulation of another, criticism, blame,
complaints...
Basics of Healing Energy
by Nicki Scully.
The
power of our healing work comes from this understanding of energy: we can
effect form intentionally by developing our thoughts with imagination, will,
and focused attention, and by engaging our senses. The subtle, intangible
energies we use in healing are malleable, and if our awareness is trained to
sense them, we can mold those energies into tangible, substantial form.
Emotional Suppression
by Michael Sky.
Emotional
suppression sometimes serves a useful, even essential purpose. When
suffering a traumatic injury, for example. Yet while emotional suppression
may sometimes serve a useful purpose, inhibiting the free flow of emotional
energies over the course of a lifetime causes serious damage to our bodies,
minds, and spirits. Our efforts to stifle emotion become a stifling of life
itself.
Gazing at the Beloved
by Will Johnson.
Most
of our spiritual traditions tell us that, as humans, we are miniature
reflections of God and that we have been created in God's image. If this is
so, then it would follow that a more direct way to look upon the face of God
would be to sit and gaze at an actual person, a real flesh-and-blood human.

Who Am I?
If you can start the day without caffeine or pep pills,
If you can be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,
If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles,
If you can eat the same food everyday and be grateful for it,
If you can understand when loved ones are too busy to give you time,
If you can overlook when people take things out on you when,
through no fault of your own, something goes wrong,
If you can take criticism and blame without resentment, |
If you can face the world without lies and deceit,
If you can conquer tension without medical help,
If you can relax without liquor,
If you can sleep without the aid of drugs,
Then...........
....you are probably a cat or a dog.
