Act Now to Stop the War
More concrete information from Action-List (OpenHeart.com) Dear ActionList Subscribers: This Action item came across my virtual desk today and it offers hope to those of us who feel that our elected representatives are not representing the will of the people with regards to the impending invasion of Iraq. It takes only a minute to register your "NO WAR" vote. This is a grassroots project sponsored by International ANSWER (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism). The results of the referendum will be released in an international PR campaign and presented at the grassroots Peace Congress in Washington, DC in January. ACTION: Vote NO WAR at: http://www.votenowar.org/ Only Love Prevails,
----- begin forward of message ---------
When the Congress Rejects the Will of the People The People Must Act Themselves! No one will stop this war but the people. The U.S. Congress failed to listen to the overwhelming number of people who expressed their opposition to a war on Iraq in a massive outpouring of calls, e-mails and faxes to their elected officials. We believe that it is unconscionable to send young people in the U.S. armed forces into combat in an illegal war that serves only the interests of Big Oil. Instead of spending $200 billion of taxpayers' money on another war in the Middle East, the funds should be used to create jobs and finance education, housing, healthcare and other vital human needs. We join with the millions who want to take action to prevent a senseless war that is likely to lead to the deaths of tens of thousands of innocent people in Iraq. This path of the Bush Administration can only lead to an escalation of violence that endangers people everywhere. Join the millions of Americans who wish to send the Bush Administration a message. Vote for NO WAR at http://www.votenowar.org/ The millions of signatures on this anti-war referendum will be a tangible manifestation of the breadth of U.S. opposition to the war against Iraq. The results will be released to the world through an international public relations campaign and will be brought to Washington, D.C. at the time of mass demonstrations and the grassroots Peace Congress on January 18 - 19, 2003, coinciding with the Martin Luther King, Jr. anniversary celebrations.
