A Warm Fuzzy Tale
Various
versions of the following story were circulated through the Human Potential
Movement of the 1960s and 70s: Once upon a time, a long time ago, there
lived two very happy people called Tim and Maggie with two children called
John and Lucy. To understand how happy they were, you have to understand how
things were in those days...
Are You Forcing Yourself?
by Alan Watts.
You
might say that not-forcing is the second principle of the Tao -- in Chinese
it is called wu wei, and it means literally "not doing," but would be much
better translated to give it the spirit of "not forcing" or "not
obstructing." Wu wei when applied to human activity refers to a person who
does not get in his or her own way.
Aspiring to Beauty
by Eve Bruce, M.D.
Is
beauty truly in the eye of the beholder? Can we call whatever we see
beautiful, depending on our perspective? Beauty, Sensuality, Sexuality,
Charisma. I have long questioned these notions. What are these things? Are
they culturally defined? Dependent on the fashion of the time? Are they
culturally, racially, or gender specific? Are there universal definitions?
Looking... or Seeing?
by Roberto Kaplan.
A
great deal of research has been done in an effort to understand the
structures and processes that are necessary for vision. What is obvious is
that each eye feeds specific information through the visual pathways to the
two sides of the brain.
