I Think and Speak
Only Words Of Love
by Marie T.
Russell

Every now and then I come
across an affirmation that really 'hits home'. One of these is "I think and
speak only words of love". I found this one in the great selection presented in
Louise Hay's book "Heal Your Body."
When I started using this
affirmation, I immediately saw and felt the effects. Now this may seem like a
token statement, "I think and speak only words of love," yet when I started
using it, light was shed on all the instances where I did not live up to this
affirmation. It served as a reminder throughout the day. I repeated it whenever
I remembered it. Yet the great thing is that even when I was not consciously
affirming 'I think and speak only words of love', the affirmation remained in
the background (sub-conscious) as a gentle prod.
Whenever any thoughts that
were not loving came up, I would become aware of it. For example, driving along
in traffic, someone cuts me off. Now my mind steps in and comments, 'you stupid
jerk,' or something to that effect. Then my subconscious steps in to remind me,
'I think and speak only words of love'. So my new thought becomes 'that guy must
be late for work or something. I hope he makes it there safely.' O.K. that was
definitely more loving.
Throughout the day, little
things, the kind that you might not usually notice, like thoughts of impatience,
judgment, frustration, would come to my attention. Rather than slipping by
unnoticed, the fact that I had entered the affirmation into my sub-conscious
made these unloving thoughts stand out.
At first I was surprised
that so many of these thoughts still remained...I mean after all, I have been
working on this enlightenment stuff for a long time... Anyway, my slightly
deflated ego had to admit that it still harbored some jealousies, resentments,
anger, and other such unloving things. But it did not want to be qualified as
not being successful at the enlightenment game, so it jumped in to assist with
replacing the unloving thoughts with loving ones.
"I think and speak only
words of love." What a powerful path. It is definitely a great tool to help weed
out any resentments and negative energy. Even those thoughts that are still in
the seed stage can be 'nipped in the bud', so to speak, with this affirmation.
It's worked and is still working wonders for me. Try it, you might like it. It
will definitely assist you in re-discovering your true self, that truly loving
being that you are.
