2004: Roar & Soar

by Eliza Bassett

Some people experienced 2003 as a highly intense, brutal year, making them face issues that they had long thought resolved. Others may have had a year that they cruised through with ease yet they know people who have had major upheavals in their lives, which then impacted their flow. 2004 has more transformations in store, yet less intense in the crushing need to change being shoved in faces.

For those tired of the indecisiveness felt since mid-June, the news that Mars moves into its own sign, followed by the return to its usual speed of sign changing approximately every six weeks, is most welcome. By the end of 2004, it will have moved through eight signs, spreading its energy of activity, initiation, and going after what you desire, with gusto. The long transit Mars did in Pisces in 2003 has certainly taught many patience, as well as brought a new understanding of how Spirit is the source of all movement.

The energy of Pisces continues to be important as Uranus returns to swim with the twin fish a few days before 2003 ends. Those born in the early degrees of Gemini, Virgo, and Sagittarius may repeat the unique adventures of early 2003. We?re all going to be processing the emotional changes that Uranus, the radical pattern breaker, requires of us for the next seven years. Remember it is a quick and speedy instigator of change. Cleaning up after the jolts can be messy.

Saturn continues its progress through Cancer, moving almost all the way through the sign before turning retrograde in early November 2004. This is another life-changing planet moving in a water sign, slowing down the speed of life and assisting slightly hidden fears to come forward. Cancer is the sign of home, nurturing, romance, protection, prudence, as well as being a tad touchy, frivolous, and timid. Saturn can stir up deep issues regarding the security of life. For those who have Saturn in this sign, Cancer, you?ll be reviewing how you have built your emotional beliefs. You?ll be able to accept these thoughts as valid or choose to nurture new roots.

Two elements that lighten up the transits come from Jupiter and Chiron. Jupiter is in Virgo until the third week in September when it enters Libra. Jupiter brings a direct mental communication of idealism, humor, joy, a broad-minded confidence that is based upon analysis as it visits Saturn off and on during the year. Chiron is in Capricorn, and that combination commands that healing modalities be sought to truly release illness and dis-ease. Therefore, when it meets Saturn by opposition in mid-August and late December, the push is on to resolve long standing health issues. Perhaps we can see the end of corruption and other excesses of business and government. It is something to work towards, as the potential is inherent in these transits.

Since there are two powerful planets moving through two of the three water signs, it is good to visit the health food store for aids to the emotional body. Research Bach and California flower essences, herbs, nutritional supplements, homeopathics, etc., and lay in a supply of what works for you. Also, with two planets in earth signs, it is important to attend to the body -- the vehicle that carries our soul through this earth?s journey. Seek professional counseling and healing practitioners. Remember, what you resist changing is exactly where you need to change the most. Don?t miss this opportunity to continue to seek freedom. 2003 -- dare to be free. In 2004 -- roar!
