Sometimes Labor and Consumers Deserve A Stake In The Outcome

Cheese Heads

We are often reminded of fearless and rugged entrepreneurs, the captains of industry, or even the baker and candle stick maker down the street. And if we are reminded of the labor leader at all, it is as the vilified character with rolled up sleeves, cigar chomping, gangster type of the mid twentieth century movies ..Today more than likely though it's the teacher, fireman, or policeman next door.

Sometimes labor or the consumer deserve a stake in the outcome of business ventures. In the US there is virtually no representation of labor in most companies, while Germany is unique in that it requires by law that labor be represented on boards of directors of all large companies. Some might say we are cheesy when it comes to labor representation when compared to the rest of the world. But then again we do have Cheesehead capitalism.
