Horoscope: March 7 to 13, 2011

Pam Younghans

The Week's Horoscope:

March 7 to 13, 2011

Astrologer Pam Younghans writes this weekly astrological Journal based on planetary influences, and offers perspectives and insights to assist you in making the best use of current energies. This column is not intended as prediction. Your own experience will be more specifically defined by transits to your personal chart.

Highlighted Aspects for This Week

Tuesday: Mercury square Nodes

Wednesday: Uranus conjunct Mercury, Mercury enters Aries, Pluto quintile Sun

Thursday: Jupiter sextile Venus

Friday: Uranus enters Aries 4:54pm PST

Sunday: Pluto square Mercury

THE URANUS EFFECT is intensified as the planet of Higher Consciousness and Liberation enters Aries this Friday, March 11th, 2011. Our mental, emotional and physical bodies may take some time to adjust to this new energy. Because of this adjustment phase, at times we may feel expansive and invigorated, at other times a bit overwhelmed or anxious.

We've already gotten some clues as to how this influence might manifest in physical reality, due to Jupiter entering Aries on January 22. Since then, the cries for independence and autonomy around the world have gotten louder, and the courage to stand for those ideals has increased. And, true to Aries form, sometimes the result has been intense anger and combativeness.

ONLY THOSE who are 84 years of age or older have experienced the shift involved in Uranus moving from Pisces into Aries -- and that was in 1927, at a much different time in humanity's evolutionary cycle and level of consciousness. We really have nothing to compare our current experience to, in that respect -- although we can expect the basic themes of initiative, assertiveness and freedom to be strong.

And, it's not required that the assertiveness of Aries or the rebelliousness of Uranus  become violent. After all, it was when Uranus was last in Aries that Mahatma Gandhi began his "non-cooperation" civil disobedience movement, leading his followers in the 240-mile Dandi Salt March to protest the British-imposed salt tax.

MERCURY APPEARS several times in our list of highlighted aspects for the week, which means that our minds will be actively engaged as we process events.

On Tuesday, while still in Pisces, Mercury squares the North and South Node, challenging us to trust our internal knowing. This aspect requires that we move beyond merely saying what we think others want to hear. It also asks us to be strong in the knowing and communicating of our truth, and not to allow fear or others' opinions -- or even the "facts" -- to interfere with that process.

MERCURY AND URANUS align on Wednesday morning (8:06am PST), right before Mercury moves into Aries. This alignment, occurring in the very last degree of Pisces, provides us energetically with an exhilarating combination of imagination, spiritual awareness and higher perspective.

The Sabian symbol for the last degree of Pisces offers more insights on this alignment:

"A majestic rock formation resembling a face is idealized by a boy who takes it as his ideal of greatness; as he grows up, he begins to look like it."

The interpretation of this symbol reads:

"The power of clearly visualized ideals to mold the life of the visualizer. The capacity for self-transformation can be developed through visualization, when the emotions and the will are poured into the visualized mental image. At the highest spiritual-cosmic level, this is the power used by the God-like Beings at the close of a cosmic cycle in projecting the basic Formula (the Word) which will start a new universe."

It appears that Wednesday may be an especially powerful time to imagine the kind of future we want for ourselves and the planet, and to pour our "emotions and will" into that mental image.

How very appropriate that Wednesday is also the beginning of the "Unity Wave" -- the ninth and final phase -- in the Mayan calendar, as mentioned in last week's Journal.

MERCURY AGAIN makes an appearance on Sunday, this time with a confrontational square aspect to Pluto. As is usual, the effect of our "dwarf planet" can be intense, so don't expect communications to go all that smoothly over the weekend. It may be hard to keep things from disintegrating into power struggles, another manifestation that often occurs with a Pluto aspect.

On the positive side, this aspect may bring up issues and information that need to come to the surface to be processed. Previously unspoken thoughts and opinions may choose this time to come forward so that we can clear the air, find any truths that have been hidden, and move forward with greater strength, honesty and courage.
