Astragalus propinquus is used in traditional Chinese medicine, where it is used to speed healing and treat diabetes. In western herbal medicine, Astragalus is primarily considered a tonic for enhancing metabolism and digestion and is consumed as a tea or soup made from the roots of the plant. It is also used in combination with other medicinal herbs. It is also traditionally used to strengthen the immune system and in the healing of wounds and injuries.

Betaine, B-sitosterol, choline, dimethoxyisoflavone, glucoronic acid, kumatakenin, sucrose.
Tonic to the immune, adrenal, and digestive system. Raises stamina and energy to fight fatigue. Stimulates metabolism, produces spontaneous sweating, promotes healing. Good for colds, flu, and immune-deficiency related problems, including AIDS, cancer, tumors as well as chronic lung weakness. Use is discouraged when a fever is present.
