More than 75% of Americans believe in the possibility of life after death. Whether you're a believer in the afterlife or whether you're a skeptic, this book is an eye-opener. It contains first person accounts of communications with people who have passed over "to the other side". Many of the people came to the visit trance-medium Suzane Northrop with much more than an ounce of skepticism and doubt, yet they left with the comfort of having communicated with a deceased loved one. Many of them received confirmation of events that only they and the loved ones knew of, so they had "proof" that the communication was indeed real.

When people die, so often there is "unfinished business" -- angry words which were spoken and never forgiven, broken relationships, and of course, the grief of the one "left behind". The wonder of communicating with people in the afterlife (or as Suzanne calls them, DPs, or members of the Dead People's Society) is that we can heal relationships that were unhealthy in life, we can get answers to questions that we wish we had asked, and we can receive forgiveness or extend forgiveness.

The basic message in "Second Chance" is that even after death, we still get second chances to love and heal relationships. It's a book that's interesting to read due to all the stories of DPs communicating with their loved ones, but more than that, it's a book that gives great hope for all of us who have lost loved ones. We can be comforted by knowing that they are indeed still "alive" though not in the physical body; we learn that they still love us and are keeping an eye out for our well-being; we find that they are doing wonderfully well, better than they were when "in the flesh".

I really enjoyed reading this book. It is a new edition of a book formerly titled The Séance with a foreword by John Edward.
